Infertility

Causes of Infertility in Men

  • Inadequate sperm count : Azoospermia(absence of sperms in semen), Oligospermia.
  • Decreased sperm motility This may be caused by the shape of the sperm.
  • Varicocele : This happens when the veins on a man's testicle(s) are too large. This heats the testicles. The heat can affect the number or shape of the sperm.
  • Blocked Vas deference : Sometimes injuries or other damage to the reproductive system can block the sperm-path (Vas deference).
  • Change in Semen qualities -increased acidity of semen or decreased fructose levels in semen.

Sometimes a man is born with the problems (Congenital problems), that affect his sperm. Other times problems start later in life due to illness or injury(Aquired problems). For example, cystic fibrosis often causes infertility in men.
