Causes of infertility in men

  • Inadequate sperm count : Azoospermia(absence of sperms in semen) , Oligospermia
  • Decreased sperm motility This may be caused by the shape of the sperm.
  • Varicocele : This happens when the veins on a man's testicle(s) are too large. This heats the testicles. The heat can affect the number or shape of the sperm.
  • Blocked Vas deference : Sometimes   injuries or other damage to the reproductive system  can block the sperm-path (Vas deference).
  • Change in Semen qualities -increased acidity of semen or decreased fructose levels in semen

Sometimes a man is born with the problems ( Congenital problems) , that affect his sperm. Other times problems start later in life due to illness or injury(Aquired problems).  For example, cystic fibrosis often causes infertility in men.
